Jaguar e-type 4.2 litre Series 1, 2+2 1966 coupe
Manufactured on the 11th August 1966 in the Brown's Lane factory at Coventry. It was then dispatched to Minnesota, in the States, the car initially being a left hand drive fitted with a manual gearbox.
The car spent the first 25 years of its life in the States with its one owner until it was repatriated to Britain during 1990's.
Upon its return to Britain the car was totally stripped back down to its component parts and the paint on the bodywork was stripped right back to bare metal and any slightest signs of corrosion dealt with by Jaguar specialists.
At the same time the engine, though having covered only 46k miles was totally stripped down and rebuilt to the original factory tolerances all round.
The gearbox was stripped down and rebuilt replacing all the bearings, the seals and the layshaft.
A full replacement clutch and clutch plate was fitted
The rear axle was removed from its subframe and the bearings and seals replaced, the subframe was then stripped and repainted in its original black colour before the rear axle was refitted to the sub frame.
New universal joints were fitted to the prop shaft
New brake callipers/pads, brake pipes, brake master cylinder and brake servo unit were fitted.
At this point the vehicle was professionally converted back to right hand drive steering using all new steering components and a new wiring loom for right hand drive vehicles and suspension components were renewed.
The interior trim was totally renewed by Jaguar specialist upholsterers in beige leather whilst the exterior paintwork was provided with several coats of gloss red.
The heater matrix and radiator were renewed with a new exhaust system fitted too.
The total ground up nut and bolt restoration commenced in 1991 taking two years concluding in1993 at a cost of thousands of pounds to achieve the high standard of finish that the car still exhibits today with just over 53k miles showing on the speedometer and cherished by its fourth owner in his ten year ownership.
Apart from a file of service history the car includes its original dealer invoice from 1966 and the Jaguar heritage vehicle information sheet dated 1993 to evidence the vehicle has matching numbers.
Great opportunity to own a beautiful machine and an appreciating asset.
